Our Community
Holy Transfiguration is a small and close-knit yet deeply welcoming Orthodox Christian community located in Peoria, Illinois. Most of our members are American converts to the Orthodox faith, joined by a few cradle Orthodox Christians from various Slavic and Middle Eastern backgrounds.
Our parish is a mission community - founded by a convert and modeled after the simplicity and devotion of the early Church. Like the first Christians who gathered in homes to pray and break bread together, our services and fellowship have a warm, family-like character rooted in love for Christ and one another.

Service Cycle
We currently hold services once a month, with the goal of moving to weekly worship as we are able to welcome a full-time priest. Between services, we keep the church open weekly for prayer, quiet reflection, and fellowship. After every Liturgy, we share a trapeza (Coffee Hour), where all are welcome to stay, eat, and connect.
Though small, our community life is rich in faith, friendship, and spiritual growth. Every gathering - whether a Divine Liturgy, a simple conversation over coffee and pastries, or time spent in prayer - is centered on drawing closer to God and to each other.
When you visit Holy Transfiguration, you will find a mission parish that is humble in size but full of warmth, reverence, and sincere faith. We invite you to come and see!
